Who We Are

Started in 2008 by Tammy Hall, Champlain Valley Canine Rescue strives to rescue and save a wide range of animals.  Several times a year, we rescue dogs from the Ohio puppy mills.  These dogs have been used for breeding and are now grateful to have vet care and be placed in loving homes.   Throughout the year, we rescue dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens from the south both directly from high-kill shelters and from rescue partners in the south who pull animals from shelters and foster them until they can find a rescue partner in the north.  We also do what we can locally to help animals in need find homes if their owners can no longer care for them.We are a completely volunteer-based organization and are we grateful for our many foster homes as well as for the volunteers who help with transports and grooming.

Why We Do It

Callie's Story

Callie was found malnourished and abandoned with her puppies in Laurel, Mississippi in November of 2020. Thanks to our rescue and transport partners along the way, she and her babies made it to us in Vermont and found a loving foster home right away until she found her forever home. She now gets to be a normal dog and live the high-quality life that every dog deserves. And all her puppies found wonderful homes, as well!

Dante's Story

Dante turned 18 yesterday! One of our earliest rescues, he arrived at age 2 in 2008. He is blessed to be loved
